Strathclyde Park Regatta | Review

A smaller than normal contingent from Aberdeen Boat Club made their way south to Motherwell to participate in Strathclyde Park Regatta on the last weekend of April. The water was far from ideal thanks to Strathclyde Parks ever present cross-wind, but rowing on the Dee left the men and women in purple more than prepared to deal with the interesting conditions.

It was another strong entry from ABC’s women, with four entries in Women’s R2 4+ all reaching the final, and Kerryn Meston and Tricia Schooling finishing strongly in 2nd and 3rd place in Women’s Novice 1x. However, it was the men who brought home the majority of the medals. Three of ABC’s 4 golds went to Gary Wilson, including the Open 4- in a composite crew with Adam Luczak and Lewis McCue of RGU and Gregor Duncan of ASRA. The final gold medal came from the combination of Richard Hills and Jack Montgomery, who produced a storming final 500m to win Open R2 2-.

Well done to all competing crews!
