Aberdeen Boat Club hosts the Commonwealth Baton

Led by Aberdeen City Council's Adventure Aberdeen, pupils from Kaimhill School and Kincorth Academy will form part of a canoe flotilla that will see a baton bearer carry the baton down the River Dee.

The public will be able to cheer on the flotilla, from either side of the river and on the bridges, as it makes its way to the pontoon. The baton will be plunged into Aberdeen Harbour in spectacular fashion by the Petrofac freefall lifeboat.

It will travel in convoy, led by the harbour pilot boat round the many berths which will provide a unique vantage point for the baton, in what will be a fabulous sense of place which will link the city's maritime and industry history.
